Week 5 or: How I Got Bronchitis but Went to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour Anyway

Last Sunday I came down with bronchitis and am still recovering unfortunately. Minus a few excursions, I have been cooped up in my flat all week. Super frustrating! I just had to get sick in London didn't I? I'm hoping I can kick this very soon. As a result, this post will be fairly short because I didn't do much this week.

After a few days of cabin fever (flat fever?) I needed to get some fresh air. I pushed myself to get out the door and walk through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park during sunset. It was just what I needed. These two parks may have become my favorite spots in London. They are literally across the street from my flat and I find spending time there is very relaxing. Whether I'm reading and doing my homework or just walking through the park, I always feel renewed. I love the city of London, but as is the case with all busy cities, I can only stay in a city environment for so long. I need open spaces and nature. These two parks have been a great way to escape the busy city life -- even though the city life is cool.

This was the first time I had walked through the parks at dusk and the light was just amazing! I took some pictures to try and capture how beautiful this park is at sunset.

We saw a bunch of Chinese kung fu/martial arts films this week at the British Film Institute, which was really cool. My favorite film we watched this week was "Hero." I had never seen it and I was blow away by it. The art direction and cinematography were breathtaking. The choreography was unbelievable and it was just a really good story about striving for peace during times of war.

Although I was sick this whole week, I forced myself to go to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour. It was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. The tour was massive! It exceeded my expectations in every way. They had on display set pieces, costumes, and props from the Harry Potter films, as well as a bunch of behind the scenes info. I couldn't believe how much they had on display. It took 3 hours to get through it all.

A couple of highlights were definitely the Butterbeer, of which I helped myself to 2 servings. The best part of the tour however was a 1:28 scale miniature of Hogwarts Castle that they used in the films. I took some pictures but they don't do justice to the intricate detail of the castle. Not to mention it was HUGE!

I'll just post a bunch of photos and videos of the Harry Potter tour instead of writing about it. Hope you enjoy!

Also, you may notice a wee bit of a mustache on me face. Umm...how do I explain this...I was challenged to grow it out until the end of my trip. I know, I know, it looks terrible! Believe you me, this furry little creature will be put down the second I get home. I've just gotta hold out 11 more days. Aaah 11 more days! I need to get well so I can enjoy the rest of my trip.

Cheers.
